He was sworn in eight years ago . He came to us from his ranch out west , and although he knew the insides and outs of DC politics every now and then he'd wear his cowboy hat just to show us he's not from these parts . There was always a quiet calm about him . Never a big talker . He never got standing ovations and I will assume won't get a million people come to see him on a European tour ( unless it's to protest his existence ) .
So as he leaves office soon I would like to say something that those in the media would never say.
Thank you Mr Vice President . Thank you for devoting the last eight years to keeping us safe . It's a thankless job .When you do it right nobody notices , if you fail the blame will all be on you.
As you leave your office I wish you and Mrs Chaney the best of luck in life's next journey .
